Tour Miraflores

Miraflores

Miraflores, dubbed ‘Heroic City’ (Ciudad Heróica) in 1881 after the Battle of Miraflores, is one of the most opulent districts in the City of Lima. Popular among tourists, young people and the medium to upper-class, it is full of excellent cafés, pubs, restaurants and shops. ‘Larcomar’, a shopping mall overlooking the Pacific coastline, contains arcades, bowling alleys, nightclubs, bars and the most modern cinema in Lima. Pizza Street (Calle de las Pizzas) is a great place to spend a Saturday evening, its bars and restaurants overflowing with Lima’s young population. Kennedy Park (Parque Kennedy), Miraflores’ prestigious central square, is another happening place at the weekend, regularly hosting flea markets, art exhibitions, bands and dance displays. Miraflores is one of the most eminent cultural hubs of Lima, being home to both theatres and art galleries as well as the archaeological site of ‘Huaca Pucllana’. The district is famous for its many flower-filled gardens and parks, including the Park of Love (Parque del Amor), a romantic spot with a panoramic view over the Pacific Ocean. Most of these attractions are within walking distance of El Sol, which can be found on Grimaldo del Solar 469 (please see map links on the El Sol Homepage). Another great Miraflores attraction is the beaches which have drawn surfers to the district for decades. The Municipality of Miraflores (Municipalidad de Miraflores) organises bus tours of the district as well as mini-excursions to interesting destinations in and around Lima. Check their website for more information http://www.miraflores.gob.pe/. Most importantly, Miraflores is one of the safest districts of Lima; a place in which to relax and to enjoy time with friends and family.
